Before coming into the program, I thought that I had everything in life going for me and that I was perfect. Well, infact I wasn't who I thought that I was, because I lived inside of my bubble! In the program I learned that I have a voice and I will project it more and speak up for what I think is right. I also found that I am way more confident in doing things, which in return has brought up my self-esteem levels greatly. I also found out that my family really loves and appreciates me for who I am and I found out that I don't say 'I love you' enough. Another huge thing that changed my life was my block of success which was my fear of rejection, by breaking the block of wood I felt a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders and I am able and willing to go out and make new friends and be open to them and not care what they think. I feel that this program has really chaged my life and that my bubble that I use to live in, no longer exsists and that I am a new person. (I am a new baby chick that has hatchted from its egg and now is able to fly.) I want to Thank the Werklund Foundation for everything that they did in order to help me find who I really was deep down inside! :) I feel that this program has really chaged my life and that my bubble that I use to live in, no longer exsists and that I am a new person. JoaniThis program taught me selflessness, something I had never known before. I learned that there is a bigger picture than just myself. This program is so extraordinary and the love and passion that these trainers put into every program is amazing! I am now a teen volunteer myself and I absolutely LOVE it! I keep in touch with all my graduates and I'm so proud and grateful to be a part of the Werklund Foundation. I would and I do recommend this to anyone and everyone! |
MelanieWhen I was on my way to the program, everyone around me was terrified because we had all heard how hard it was. I said that I would be painfully positive and believe it would be amazing, because then it would be. I regret nothing about Teen Leadership Breakthrough. It was the experience of a lifetime, and I come away a changed person. I learned so much about myself and my peers, and my life was changed. I recomend this program to anyone, anyone at all. It's revolutionary. |
BrantFor those of you who haven't taken this course and want to be confident in yourself, want to accomplish your goals, and want to be whom you desire to be, then your first step is to take this training. I'm not saying that it's impossible for you to achieve what you want if you don't do the training, but I am saying that Empowering Minds can push you beyond wherever you thought you could go. It will push you to realize you true potential, your character and your passions, so that we as today's youth, can lead the world of tomorrow with confidence and strength.
Do you ever feel like you can't live up to something, that you aren't capable, or that you just aren't a leader? Well, you're wrong. Everybody is a leader of some sort. You may not be outgoing, or popular, or a good public speaker, but that's not even what leadership is about. Being a leader is taking initiative and being in control of one's own life, or what one believes in. If that involves leading a group of others, or public speaking, then so be it. The fact of the matter is that everybody has leader qualities, they just need a little shove to get them shining. |
GrantThis Past Saturday I attended My Daughter Jenysa's Graduation from the team Leadership Breakthrough Class 4012. I think this is the most profound experience I have ever shared with my Daughter. As I arrived At Camp Chestermere To attend the mandatory parent meeting I kept thinking to myself, mandatory Parent meeting? What the hell went on here that they need to have a meeting with the parents? I was directed to a hall with the other parents to wait for this meeting to start. I kept thinking to myself why all the secrecy, I admit I was nervous. Finally the Werklund team coach arrived to announce that from the time the students got off the bus they immediately took them out of their comfort zone. They told us the difference between this training and other training of this nature this training was no cuddle festival, they allowed the students to fail at their challenges, and if they failed they got to keep at it till they succeeded. With that all parents received some journals that our children had wrote as they were going through this training. When I reflect on the Graduation ceremony, I think of it as life changing. We As Parents were ushered into the Graduation Room, the students standing on the perimeter of the room. I, like every other parent there was looking for my daughter. Finally I spot her; she doesn't look to much worse for wear (I can start to relax). Almost immediately after we are all seated they announce that each student is going to sing/ project the words to Oh Canada individually as a part of their last challenge. At this point all I can think is my daughter by herself is going to sing oh Canada in front of this whole room???? The singing starts, two students come out and just start belting out the words to Oh Canada .I watch as the students clap and cheer for their peers, amazed and moved, as every student completes the task. Once completed the students were invited to share with the group their feelings about this experience. Student after student got up and conveyed how amazed they were at the experience they had just had, and empowered they felt how much they appreciated their own lives and futures. I was taken back to the days of kindergarten, when my daughter was so excited every day with the new thing that she had learned. It was very obvious that what all of these children had learned on this occasion had brought back this enthusiasm, absolutely life changing! The parent sharing session was every bit as moving, it hits home for me how much we depend on and love our children. My daughter was voted by her peers, during this weekend, one of the two most improved people in this class. When I look at her I know that she has a whole new viewpoint on her life. In closing, I just want to say thank you to to The werklund family, and your foundation, thank-you, you are amazing people!
Sincerely, |
Melissa"My name is Melissa Papp, I am an 18 year old graduate and I am a leader. I went through Teen Leadership Breakthrough back in December 2009. Before I attended the camp I found myself awash in the High School life surrounding myself with a bad social scene. I was in an unhealthy relationship and was being treated poorly and was confused about what my future held for secondary school and my dream job to be a musician. I was hesitant going to the camp not knowing what useful information I would take from it. Throughout the Teen Leadership Breakthrough I discovered things about myself I did not know I could do. When I got back home from my Empowering weekend, I reflected on what I learned. I learned to love myself and to love others around me. I learned to persevere challenges and obstacles I've been through or am yet to discover. I learned to replace my words to "I WILL" instead of "I CAN'T". But most of all, I learned to make important changes in my life that will have a positive outcome. In a result of all of this, I was inspired to write a song about my experience at the camp called "We Were Empowered" which is now the official song of the Werklund Foundation. I am currently pursuing my music career with many opportunities and much success. I also will be attending secondary school in the year 2011.
Thank you for taking your time to read this and thank you Rapport Empowered Education and the Werklund Foundation for making such a huge impact on my life. You can listen to my song and watch my first ever music video below." |
