Nature Conservancy

Werklund Foundation is committed to ensuring sustainability of Alberta's environment for the sake of our children's future.  To this end, we have partnered with other like-minded institutions that share our vision of environmental stewardship in this province.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) protects areas of natural diversity for their intrinsic value and for the benefit of our children and those after them.

The Werklund Foundation is proud to be a Founder on the Nature Conservancy of Canada's "The Waldron Conservation Project".  History was made with the acquisition of the 30,535-acre (12,357-hectare) Waldron lands in the spring of 2013.  This was the first opportunity since the late 1800s to conserve a very important wildlife corridor and to ensure the protection of the headwaters consisting of critical streams and rivers for the entire Canadian Prairies, which provide water for millions of Canadians and countless wildlife species.  The Waldron Conservation Project, composed primarily of native habitat, is an area of incredible diversity, rich history and spectacular scenery.

Waldron has been officially conserved and we would like to thank all of the other donors who had a direct impact in assisting with conserving this landscape for all time and for all Albertans and Canadians.
